Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to resurface a bathtub, etc?

Most jobs (aside from antique bathtubs) are completed in 1 day. Extensive repair work will take more time. Once the work is completed, the new (old) fixture can be used in 24 hours.

Will my home smell bad?

We use a sophisticated exhaust system to minimize odors. Any remaining odors are usually gone later that day.

Will my bathtub be dangerously slippery?

We can easily apply a slip-resistant surface to the bottom of your tub upon request.

Is this eco-friendly?

Resurfacing your damaged or dated fixtures rather than disposing of them at the landfill is certainly eco-friendly.
We exclusively use NAPCO coatings, many of which are water based. Due to government regulation and consumers’ desire for a greener footprint, NAPCO has come up with a more eco- friendly bathtub coating with lower VOC’s (volatile organic compounds), yet sprays on like a conventional tub and tile coating. The VOC’s meet the Federal Government new restrictions. This also has lower odor, making it an ideal tub and tile coating for commercial work in multi-tenant facilities. Safety is our number one concern. Please contact us if you have additional questions.

Can the tile in my shower or on my backsplash be resurfaced too?

Yes! Our versatile materials adhere and perform well for many years on a variety of surfaces such as tile, natural stone, laminate, fiberglass and more!

How is resurfacing my existing bathtub a better option than installing a tub liner?

Bathtub liners are like installing a new acrylic tub and/or shower over your existing ones. Like resurfacing, this technique bypasses the demolition of a bathroom remodel. However, it can take several appointments and weeks of waiting to simply get a liner made. Resurfacing, instead, takes as little as one phone call and one day.

If installed incorrectly a liner may not be watertight, and water damage or mold issues may still lurk beneath the surface. By repairing (if necessary) and resurfacing your tub and/or shower, you're left with a smooth, watertight fixture and mold cannot grow back when properly maintained.

Bathtub liners and professional installation can cost thousands of dollars. Zimmerman Resurfacing can upgrade your tub and shower for much less.

How durable is the finish?

The finish is low maintenance, stain resistant, and strong; however, things like hair dye may stain the surface if not cleaned off immediately. With proper care, your new surface is guaranteed not to peel or discolor for 1 year. Repairs are also guaranteed for 1 year.

How should I clean the surface?

To clean and care for your newly resurfaced fixture, do not use anything acidic or abrasive such as Comet or Scotch Brite pads, Magic Erasers, lemon juice, nail polish remover, etc.
